Marlene trip to California

Aloha Nick and Emma,

Thank you for your email and for the discount!
I will definitely travel with you again if I come back to the "City by the Bay"! And I will tell my friends about you if they have the chance to go to California.

Traveling with Mr Blue was fantastic.
I got a clean van and I had no engine trouble at all, so keep on maintaining your vehicules like this, there's nothing to complain about.
I really appreciated the fact that there's no signs on the van, it's discreet, it's perfect. The dark tinted windows are great!! And the matress was amazingly comfortable!
I also think that all the equipment for hire available is very complete. (My GPS navigator was more than helpful!!)
The fact that you don't charge a underage driver fee is a huge difference compared to other car rentals!!! Your rates are very interesting and with all the equipment you offer, that probably makes you the best deal!

Here are some photos of Mr Blue and me!

I really enjoyed a lot of places in California, but if I would have to classify them, I'd say that L.A is at the bottom of the scale, and Yosemite National Park, Big Sur and Lake Tahoe on the very top!! (of course, I prefer the Nature...)

Thanks again for this wonderful time!

Cheers

Leanne and Bruce's version of our awning in the beautiful Redwoods

Campground advice from one of our fantastic renters

Hi Lost Campers and Potential Lost Campers....isn't it time for you to Get Lost and explore this wonderful part of the world? We are offering really awesome rates over the winter months...check out our website for more details! The days have just been glorious and the nights a little cool, but nothing that a fluffy blanket and cosy van can't fix. We hope to see you soon.

Check out these notes that Leanne and Bruce from Hawaii just sent us. Great campground advice if you are travelling north of San Francisco:

Aloha
We really enjoyed using your services. Not just the camper but the no
hassle, easy vibe, and the outfitting of the camper. We only wish we could
find this sort of thing everywhere we go. I don't see us coming into the bay
area for several years but who knows?
The picture of the awning set up incorrectly is in Van Duzen County park. We
set this up for the 1st time, in the dark in the rain in 15 minutes. The one
at Sunset is at Gold Beach in Prairie Creek redwoods. We found the awning
useful as a laundry line for under garments that need to be washed on a long
trip.
The only real worthwhile info I can give is alternatives to the State Park
system in the North Redwoods. With charges of $35+ @ night we looked
elsewhere and were pleasantly surprised.
In the Humboldt Redwood area we found a decent RV park with camp spots on
the river. It has laundry, showers and is very secure and private (not like
an RV parking lot). It is the only place in Myers flat, turn left after the
store. $25 @ night
Our favorite place is Van Duzen County park, 12 miles east on Hwy 36 from
101 at Fortuna. It is on the Van Duzen river west of Grizzly State Park. and
not on any map we could find. It has a very pristine setting in massive
redwoods. This park is much wilder and primitive than it's State park
neighbors yet has a host and is safe. We changed our plans and spent 4
nights there. We found 3 days worth of hiking there and at the nearby
Grizzly State park. (They filmed the Ewoks segment of Star Wars at the
Chatham grove there). $15 @ night
There is an RV/camping park in Klamath called camp Klamath, above Prairie
Creek that was the best of what is in Klamath. It has more private sites,
and is on the Klamath beach road past the Flint ridge trail cut off.
Continue on the dirt road after the pavement ends. $25 @ night
Another County park on 101 North of Patrick's Point is Big lagoon County
park. This was on the map and has great walking on the spit. We found our
best Agate of the trip there. They have Ocean front sites, a host and nice
wash rooms. $15 @ night.
Outside of Crescent city, 5 miles from Jedediah Smith Redwoods on 101 at Elk
Crossing is the Florence Keller County Park. Another gem with huge redwoods,
very private. Located in a residential neighborhood, although you would
never know it. There are a lot of little trails developed throughout the
forest, a very quaint environment. Campground host and safe. $15 @ night
Not to be missed is Gold Beach Bluffs State campground. 7 miles of dirt road
from Prairie creek with great trail access to the redwoods, oceanfront
camping and beach rock hunting.
Cheers!

We are right in the thick of summer and Burning Man is right around the corner.

It has been a wild ride for Lost Campers. We have dozens of renters come and go and all have reported that Calfiornia is quite clearly the best travel destination in the U.S.A. But the extra bold have reported that Utah and Montana are up there as well. Did I mention Canada too?

Okay the West Coast is where its at. Here is a photo of one of our happy customers. We have no idea where he is however we do know he was on the road for three weeks and he went everywhere. Does that help?
Get travelling,

Nick

Been a very busy camper.

Lost Campers has taken off. The spring is upon us and if you have checked the weather for California, you will have found that it is nothing but brilliant.
We usually do get quite a bit of rain in March yet we were surprised to have gotten only a little bit. Spring is here. The flowers are coming out already.

We have a very quick update. The State Parks are already getting an influx of bookings for the Summer. People are getting back to nature and going back to the basics. Our advice, book now. http://www.nps.gov is a fantastic resource. And they will tell you all you need to know.

Interesting times.

It has been awhile and the season is here.

We have been busy away on vacation. However the travel business never stops. It is going to be an exciting year for Lost Campers as we go into our second full year of operations. We are getting more and more reservations everyday for what looks like a very busy Summer for us. May is nearly fully booked. We are trying to get more vans out on the road so you too can enjoy a holiday in Sunny California.
It feels like the Winter is finished which means that Spring is here and if you have ever been to California. It means alot of Sun.
I am going to keep this short for you today. But I will be posting the usual photos of what there is to see around this portion of the world.
Happy Travels.

One whopper of a storm just moved through and we more on the way.

It's a Skiers wet dream up in LAke Tahoe at the moment. You may have problems getting there as the main roads are reporting problems getting through. In San Francisco we had small hail down to sea level. And we are expecting a huge storm with sustained winds to come in tonight. I really love this type of weather. It is a wild experience to camp out in at night. Of course, as long as you are warm and dry. Good luck to our campers. Next week we are supposed to get a break. Back to normal. However if you were to head south. You will find that all weather is normal and sunny. Like usual.
Cheers

Big Boy Deluxe. Perfect Backpacker machine.

Big Boy Deluxe

It's a Van 5 people can travel in. We are offering you this Van at such incredible rates - it goes for the same rates as our regular Big Boy, with an additonal one-time preparation fee of $30 to set this guy up for 5 passengers. It sleeps 2 people. You can bring a tent for the other campers to sleep in or you can rent one from us. We set our prices for the backpacker and those on a budget. We source heavy duty mattresses. We don't stuff around with flimsy marine matresses. You'll have one of the best nights sleep in a Lost Camper! We always do! (That is when we can actually get away and enjoy the outdoors.)

Additional news: We are looking at Salt Lake City for drop offs. Love to know what you guys think? Email us if this would be a travel option for you. We aren't doing this yet, we are just doing our research. We love feedback and ideas. Got any other destinations? Email reservations@lostcampersusa.com
Cheers

Customers asked. We responded.

We have taken the advice of our people and we have removed the branding off all the vehicles. We have done this because you wanted discreet. Lets say you are on a mountain road in the middle of nowhere. I bet you prefer to be not seen. You don't want loud signs on the back of the vehicle that say Rent ME. Well after carefull consideration. Neither do we. The crowd has spoken and we have listened. Cheers to democracy.
Talk soon.

Canada, here we come!

Lost Campers is proud to say that our Vans are allowed to travel into Canada. We are still working out the finer details, however, they will be up this week. It is really cool for us, because in the most extreme case we might be able to make it into Alsaka this summer. Hmmmm Alaska. Anyways, right now it's Canada. Enquire with us immediately and we can explain how things work. Very exciting.
On another note, thanks to Krista and Kalin from the Yukon. They are our Customers of the Month. They had a huge time in one of our vans and they were beaming with smiles when they returned from their roadtrip to sunny San Francisco. And let me tell you, the sun is shining. You bloody beauty!! It's Australia Day in Oz too. Go Aussie Go!

Is it baseball season already?

Couldn't help it. Found these photos of us at the baseball. For the international visitor. You are allowed to have BBQ's and beer in the carpark before you go and watch the game. It is really a festival type crowd with everyone hanging out drinking beer and cooking hotdogs. It is very cool. This is called Tailgating. An American pastime.

The weather has been the most incredible I have seen in Years

The weather here is nuts. It feels like it is spring already. This unseasonable weather has been around for a week and half. The people in the city are all cruising around with smiles on their faces and we are all wearing summer clothes.

And I am finally back to wearing my stock standard Lost Campers uniform. My trademark dress shorts and sandals.

Just a photo of the shoreline up near Fort Bragg to help wet your traveling appetite.
