Guys it is winter in the hills.

Is it traveling weather? I beleive yes. All of our current campers on the road seem to think so. This is supposed to be the time when we could get away to the snow. And right now in the Sierras, there is alot of snow. So getting away is not to be the case. We have to work which means our renters are having the fun. Hey ,it is all good. Mid week next week, we are snowboarding.

Anyway, I have two photos I needed you guys to see. Tillman and his partner took one of our vans out to Death Valley for a month and here is a couple of shots they sent back. Unreal.

Amazing really.

Merry Christmas from Emms and Nick and the rest of the crew!

The fuel prices are still falling.

Today is a very short blog. Fuel prices are still falling. We are at $1.95 a gallon. Unheard of. Also there is really great travel deals happening with the airlines. Be patient when looking for them. The airlines are short on filling their seats.

Mendocino county is unreal.

We got away. Last minute dash. Took off up the coast. We wanted to do what our customers do. Camp in the van. So we did. Mendocino county north of San Francisco has some of the most amazing countryside in the world. Mysterious, enchanting and plain old terrific.

We stayed at MacKerricher State Park which is has over 10 miles of ocean coastline. The camping arrangements are very private and pretty reasonable for vans at $20 a van. http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=436

The next day we bootscooted via the park office and received some trusty advice from Tom the trusty park ranger. He told of us a place on route 128 called Hendley woods. This is an old growth Redwood Forest. Some of these guys top out at 300 ft. Absolutely amazing. It makes me help understand the world a little better when you stand next to one these majestic giants. These trees have been around for 1500 years or more. So much has gone on in their lives. Amazing trees. It is a must see. Route 128 to Boonville from the coast at mile marker 18.

The photos do not do them justice.
Back to San Francisco until the next time we can get away.
Last note. Big shout out goes to Anne. You made our day. Let us know when you want to book.
Cheers

I am a pretty lucky guy. I sell travel in the most incredible city in the world. With the most unbelieveable access to the country. I travel this bridge nearly everyday and live just around the corner of it. I also know the secret hidespots to this city that would blow your mind. I am just very lucky.

Green R.V's

Everyone is moving towards the sustainable future. It was only a matter of time before the R.V market had to move down this path. Hence the green RV. Check out the article. Well worth it. I would post the photo however I think we may have a copyright issue.

Fuel prices keep sliding

The fuel prices keep falling. This is less then what it was 3 years ago. The plus is that it is an amazing time to travel in California. More bang for your buck. But who knows when it is going to stop.

Interesting things to note.

41 cents sterling will get you 1 litre of fuel.

77 cents canadian will get you 1 litre of fuel.

96 cents australian will get one litre of fuel.

51 cents euro will get one litre of fuel.

These figures were based on Travelex exchange rates. And the math was worked out by myself. Forgive me if I am out a few cents.

But you get the point. The fuel as it stands (and I have traveled a fair bit ) doesn't get much cheaper. That is why I am stunned that it keeps going down day after day.

Another fantastic day in the city. Featured is the Cliff House. This is the third time this fantastic building has been rebuilt after been damaged and destroyed in past earthquakes. Don't worry it has been awhile since the last big one.

Fantastic San Francisco

The day after a storm passed through the area, San Francisco was beaming with sunshine and the air so clean and fresh. What a glorious part of the world.

Monday, November 3, 2008

The storm has left the building.

The first of the winter storms has come through and moved on. It has definiteley come early to San Francisco. This time of year is usually what we call the Indian Summer. It is fantastic. And hot.

Lost Campers has finally loaded a blog.

Lost Campers is a Campervan Rental company founded in San Francisco in 2007. The idea started when Emma and I were camping in Bozeman, Montana in July 2007. We came to the conclusion that the type of travel that we were accustomed to whilst in other countries wasn't readily available. Hence Campervans found their way into our world . Pretty simple right. Really simple. Small vans with the basic kit and a bed, that can allow travelers to visit the States. An alternative for people to go on amazing road trips and adventures and see all the wonderful sights this country has to offer. Well with that, I quit my regular job and we started the journey. Opened the doors officially on February 12th, 2008. And the rest is history. We are Lost Campers. We have a number of vehicles now and are taking bookings for next year. We just experienced a very successful first summer season and all of our renters had such a blast. It is exciting times for us. We sell travel and big adventures, which is such a natural fit for us. We just love seeing our renters come back with big smiles and being so relaxed. Anyhow, this is the start of our blog. It will be dedicated to news and travel and a personal platform for our renters to post photos, videos and comments. Oh and we just have to post our own travel shots and shots from our daily adventures.

Cheers
